DEDICATED TO DAISY:
A Custom Breyer by Jennifer Halstead Anderson
This website is dedicated to my first pony. Her name was Daisy. She was a welsh pony/quarterhorse cross. Daisy was white with gray points. In her memory, I am customizing a Breyer model horse to look like her. This is my first custom project, and like many other beginning artists, my inspiration comes from something dear to me.
My dad bought Daisy for me from one of his co-workers when I was 13. She was 8 years old then and had been trained to neck-reign. She was a girl's dream come true.
I spent countless hours with Daisy. We went on trail rides with the local horseman's club. She could outrun horses much larger than herself. I spent countless hours currying her, training, and riding.
My favorite memory of Daisy is that she loved jingle-bells. At the holidays, I would sew jingle bells to her halter and she would shake her head up and down to hear them ring. She always pranced more and had a happy spring to her step when we had the bells on. She and I would romp through the snow and she would kick up her heels, throwing snow everywhere.
Daisy was a true friend and I miss her and think of her often. I hope that someday, my own daughter can have a four-hooved comrade of her own.
